Those times are fortunately over, when marriage was organized by parents’ or other third persons’ request, when it was forbidden to choose one’s own mate, or when marriage was celebrated because of the growing “belly”. Nowadays organizing a wedding party is more the matter of prestige. It also informs the world about the great love between two people.

There are as many dreams and images of wedding parties as persons are different. One wishes to organize a grandiose wedding party in a manor house, other dreams about putting a ring on his dearly beloved’s finger at seaside in the setting sun, other wishes to pronounce the wedding vow when standing barefoot on a meadow and then invite the dear guests for a jolly party in a farm courtyard, according to old Estonian customs.
